Royal Irish Academy of Music Examinations 2013: Proud members of St. Mary’s Brass and Reed Band and their tutors who recently achieved distinctions and first class honours in their music grades. Also pictured are Niamh Conlan and Shane Smith who earned the prestigous high achiever award and will progress to further auditions with the opportunity of playing with the RIAM Orchestra. RIAM award ceremonies and concerts are held throughout the country each autumn culminating in a Gala Concert in Dublin in December before a distinguished audience. The band wishes Niamh and Shane the best of luck in the further auditions and Niamh’s tutor Mairead is confident that she will do herself and the band proud. Kingscourt Band are currently enrolling new members: Everyone is welcome to attend. Enrolment is open to all children from aged 8 years. There is no upper age limit and members can remain in Kingscourt band into adulthood. Playing music will become a lifelong passion. We teach members to read and play music and percussion to the highest standard and students are prepared for examinations in the RIAM and Trinity Guildhall.
