Saint Antioco

Our parish pilgrimage trip led to the island of Saint Antioco for the highlight of the trip. We visited the catacomb of Saint Antioco and celebrated Mass in the basilica which is of Byzantine origin. The intentions and prayers of those who asked our prayers were remembered there. It is a place of worship and prayer for every pilgrim. Faith, culture and tradition are carved in stone in the Basilica and the catacomb. We visited the burial niches excavated in the walls and the rare canopied tombs which are characterized by large pillars rising to the ceiling. We also availed of the opportunity to visit the Tophet and the Necropolis. There was even an opportunity to enjoy some free time to explore the local port and stroll along beach.
