It is with profound sadness that our Parish learned tonight of the death of Kingscourt native, Fr. Phonsie Mackin. We extend our deepest sympathy to his sister Emma, his personal assistant Olive, his sisters in law, nephews and nieces. He served the Diocese of Meath as priest since his ordination in 1954 in the various parishes and people with selfless generosity, only retiring recently from the parish of Bohermeen, which he had served since 1982. He was dearly loved by the people of that parish and here in his own native place of Kingscourt, where he kept great connections and deep friendships throughout his life. He served as Diocesan Director of the Meath Lourdes Pilgrimage and was created a Canon of Lourdes.
