PILGRIMAGE IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF POPE PAUL VI 2015 based at Lake Como:
Kingscourt & Lordship Parishes – Lake Como
Based in Bellagio
Monday 24 – Monday 31 August 2015
Lake Como, the third largest of the Italian lakes is without a doubt the most scenic of them all. It has been considered one of Italy’s most romantic lakes since the days of the Roman Empire. Its combination of wild rugged scenery, grand villas and gardens were in the past a major inspiration to Verdi, Goethe and Liszt.
It also attracted numerous royal visitors from Edward III to Prince Charles. Less than an hours’ drive from Milan, Lake Como has long been a favourite spot for the worlds rich and famous including George Clooney who has his own villa here called Villa Oleandra.
One of the most picturesque little towns on Lake Como, Bellagio is known as the “Pearl of the Lake” with its fine shops, bars and restaurants and the attractive lakeside promenade – perfect for those leisurely afternoon and evening strolls. There is an excellent boat service to the pretty lakeshore towns of Menaggio and Varenna for those wanting to discover more of what this beautiful lake has to offer.
Just over the border in Switzerland and close to Como town is Foxtown with over 120 designer outlets!
