We sit and stand in prayer today
In this cemetery of Kingscourt
Among the graves of all we love
Their faith and care approved
We think again about their lives:
The hard times and the good.
We gather to remember them
On cemetery day each year
their wisdom and their work for all
Their love of life and prayer
Their sacrafice to help us live
Their trust in God and neighbour.
We wonder in this time of change
How best to honour them
By what we do and what we say;
Through the values we pass om
How we will live with faith and prayer
In communion with all who have gone.
What is it from our loved ones lives
That we remember most?
Gratitude for life itself,for health,
For faith and love?
Each will have a memory:
The kindly word, the smile of care,
The helping Hand, the welcome home.
